Biography
Professor Wang earned his Ph.D. in Genetics and Cell Biology from the University of Minnesota in 1988 and joined Singapore's Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in 1989, rising to Research Director in 2013. In 2022, he became Senior Principal Investigator at A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs before retiring in 2025. His research focuses on fungal pathogens, particularly Candida species, spanning basic biology, virulence, host interactions, and antifungal resistance. He has published over 150 papers in leading journals and received the President's Science Award (2012), was elected Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology (2023), and ranked in the top 2% of scientists globally (2025).
