Research
We are seeking an accomplished scientist to contribute to research on the genetic improvement of aquaculture and agricultural species. The successful candidate will support research integrating cutting-edge science and technologies with practical breeding applications to improve productivity, disease resistance, environmental resilience, and sustainable food production.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and contribute to research in aquaculture and agricultural genetics and breeding.
- Design and execute research projects using relevant genetic, genomic and breeding approaches.
- Contribute to research proposals and external grant applications.
- Publish research findings in reputable international journals.
- Provide guidance to junior research staff and students, where appropriate.
- Participate in multidisciplinary collaborations with academic, government and industry partners.
- Support the translation of research findings into practical breeding applications.
Requirements:
- PhD Degree in Genetics, Genomics, Aquaculture, Agriculture, Animal Science, Plant Science, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline.
- A strong publication record in international peer-reviewed journals.
- Experience in contributing to research proposals and grant applications.
- Experience in guiding or supporting junior research staff and students.
- Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and collaborative research projects.
- Applicant should have relevant research expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Aquaculture genetics and breeding
- Crop genetics and molecular breeding
- Quantitative genetics and genomic selection
- Genome editing and functional genomics
- Reproductive biology and biotechnology
- AI- and data-driven breeding technologies
- Precision breeding for climate resilience
- Disease resistance and host–pathogen interactions
- Sustainable food production and food security
