21 Aug, 2008 – Professor Mohan Balasubramanian, Temasek Senior Investigator and Deputy Director of Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory, was presented the prestigious National Science Award (NSA) at the National Science and Technology Awards Presentation Dinner today.

The National Science and Technology Awards (NSTA) are Singapore’s highest honour presented to recognize outstanding research scientists and engineers for their invaluable contributions to the development of Science and Technology in Singapore.

Professor Balasubramanian is awarded the National Science Award for his outstanding contributions towards unraveling mechanisms that control cell division in eukaryotic cells. Research in Professor Balasubramanian’s laboratory has successfully uncovered key mechanisms that contribute to the fidelity of the cell division process and thereby preventing deleterious increases in cellular ploidy in these cells.
