Mookkan Prabakaran obtained his M.Phil in Biochemistry from University of Madras, India in 1999 and subsequently worked at the Department of Animal Biotechnology, Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (1999-2001). In 2006, he obtained a Ph.D in Immunology at Madurai Kamaraj University, India, under a bilateral programme with Hannover Veterinary School, Germany. After post-doctoral training in immunology and gene therapy at I-Shou University, Taiwan, he joined Prof. Jimmy Kwang’s lab in Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory as Post-doctoral fellow (2007-2009) and subsequently as Research Fellow (2009-2011). In 2011, he was promoted to Strategic Research Program (SRP) Manager. He is now a Principal Investigator in Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory and his laboratory focuses on the molecular mechanisms of viral pathogenesis and developing novel recombinant vaccines against infectious viral diseases.
