Jatropha International Congress

Dr Gen Hua YUE, Assistant Director, SRP

Dr Yue got his Bachelor and Master degree at the Nanjing Agricultural University in 1986 and 1989 respectively, and worked at the same university as teaching assistant and lecturer from 1989 to 1994. He obtained his Ph.D under the supervision of Professor Hermann Geldermann at the University Hohenheim, Germany in June, 1999. His Ph.D thesis focused on porcine genome mapping. He joined Dr. Laszlo Orban’s group working on fish biotechnology and reproductive genomics at the Institute of Molecular Agrobiology in September 1998. He has been leading a team working on strategic research program (SRP) at the Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory since December 2003. He was promoted to SRP Manager in July 2005 and Assistant Director in April 2007.

1. Molecular breeding of Jatropha curcas

To develop DNA markers (SSRs and SNPs)
To construct a linkage map
To search for QTL for important traits
To conduct marker-assisted selection

3. Linkage and QTL mapping of economically important fish species
