We are seeking bioinformatician/computational biologist to study the molecular mechanisms that regulate the transition from healthy to pathological state of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) during aging. We integrate public databases and results generated from several model systems in the lab to elucidate the regulatory mechanisms of aging and AD progression. Our eventual goal is to translate findings from basic research into aging biomarkers and possible interventions that may delay age-onset AD. He/She will perform in-depth data analysis of diverse types of next generation sequencing (NGS) data to address specific biological questions; evaluate and keep updated with new software analysis tools. The NGS data include RNA-seq (gene expression), MNase-seq (nucleosome positioning) and different types ChIP-seq experiments (transcription factors and histone modifications).
- Bachelor of Science with Honours (Distinction or above) in computer science, bioinformatics or related field from reputable university
- Prior experience with the analysis of NGS datasets (RNA-seq & ChIP-seq), R/bioconductor, scripting languages (e.g. shell, python) and an Unix environment is required
- Experience in bioinformatics and statistical analysis of large datasets is required
- Documentation is an important aspect of the job
