A postdoctoral position is available in Katsutomo Okamura’s group.Our lab studies molecular mechanisms of small RNA mediated gene regulation using a combination of Drosophila genetics, biochemistry and bioinformatics (Refs: Okamura et al. Cell 2007 130(1):89, Nature 2008 453(7196):803, Mol Cell 2009 36(3):431, MCB 2011 31(4):884, WIREs RNA (review) 2011 DOI: 10.1002/wrna.113). The successful candidate will be in charge of developing and maintaining bioinformatic pipelines for small RNA sequencing data and other computational genome wide analyses. The candidate will have the opportunities to closely work with experimental biologists.
- Ph.D. degree in computational biology, or bioinformatics.
- Practical experience in analyzing and managing large high-throughput datasets.
- Proficiency in programming (e.g., Java, C/C++, Perl, R) and experience with Linux/Unix environment.
- Research experience (with at least one first-author publication) in computational biology or bioinformatics.
